Today I went to a forum. This forum was centered for Trayvon Martin and all the chaos arising from
it. We spoke about the media being involved, the police department, race, and the justice system.
What it all came down to was a sense of education for everyone? We discrimnate, speaking in general
because we lack the knowledge of knowing about others and their culture. As leaders and I’m sure
there are leaders on this site, we should go out and make those differences that people need to
see. We need to step up and put the things people see and change them. Perception turns into
reality and we need to make sure that reality is actually true. All this is not just based of racism
but off of all the other isms. You should get educated and look those up to open your brain to
new knowledge that you can share with others. You may say people will not change, but they
definitely will not change if you DON’T become the change that we all need. We also got into
talking about how divided the different groups and organizations are on campus. To open this up
wider, look from outside of campus and into the world. We should spread this farther but it has to
start somewhere. The frats and sororities are also divided and they have no relevant presence on
campus except for a popularity contest. Within your orgs, you need to have a purpose, volunteer,
tell people to come out to support all events and not just yours. Stop battling with each other
and come together. Do not simply come together when something detrimental happens. It’s time for
leaders to step up and if you think you are a leader evaluate yourself. Now, start to make changes.
It’s not hard, it’s a challenge worth takin
